The Skids, formed in 1977 in Dunfermline, Scotland, released their seminal debut album Scared to Dance in 1979 and split in 1981. Theatre of Hate was formed by Kirk Brandon in 1980 from the ashes of punk band The Pack; their debut album Westworld (1982) held the number one position for 21 weeks before the band imploded in 1982, though they have resurfaced periodically to play special shows.
