Rebecca Birrell and Victoria Redel discuss two historical novels about women artists: Venus, Vanishing, following a young artist as fascism closes in on Berlin, and I Am You, about a lifelong bond between painter Maria van Oosterwijck and her companion Gerta. The event explores art as survival, desire, obsession and hidden stories of women in history, chaired by Ann Morgan, with a book signing after.
